The Cheesetown Ukulele Group

If the ukulele makes you think of George Formby, think again. Brilliant as he was, what about Nirvana, Talking Heads, Radiohead, the Blues, classic Rock and Pop – you can play just about any style of music on the Uke and have the best fun at the same time.
It’s the instrument that makes people smile – and we guarantee that you’ll stay smiling. It’s so easy too – If you can hold down one string and strum with the other hand, you can play the Uke.
No skill needed, we’ll help you develop that. Give us an hour and we’ll have you playing a tune.
This is not a tutor led group, it’s peer learning. We get together, play some music and have a laugh. It’s social, bringing people together with music is a wonderful thing.
There’s no pressure to advance quickly (although at least 10 minutes a day practise is recommended). Learn at your own pace. There are plenty of people around to offer support and encouragement. You may just surprise yourself!
We do the occasional public performance, so if you’ve ever had aspirations to perform but aren’t sure what how to get there, join us and play the Uke. It’s totally awesome.
Amaze your friends, entertain your family, embarrass your children!

Happy Body Pilates

Join Daire (pronounced Dara) for an hour Pilates Class. Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that has an emphasis on using & activating our core muscles (deeper abdominals) and smaller stabilising muscles which can aid: stability, strength, postural alignment, movement, flexibility and our overall body awareness. It is suitable for everyone and a variety of lifestyles, whether you are quite active, becoming active again after an injury or even if you sit at a desk all day, Pilates can help. It is low impact, therefore it is gentle on the joints which makes it beneficial if you have knee or hip issues with added mobility movements to relieve stiffness and aid movement. There is also a great mind/body aspect so though you will be working your body, you will be focused on you & your movement with the hope you can ‘switch off’ from the outside world, even just for an hour! Beginners are most welcome to my class and I look forward to welcoming you to the Community Centre. You can book via my website or feel free to drop me an email.
